It is with great pleasure that we welcome Sorors, Rhoers, and guests to the Delta Psi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho, Inc. website. 

 Delta Psi Sigma was founded on May 27, 1977 in Seattle, WA by six Sorors: 

Arezelle Smith, Ernestene Givan, Orene Scott, Orie Greene, Fabiola Woods, and Willette Romious. 

Delta Psi Sigma continues to preserve the sorority’s motto of “Greater Service, Greater Progress” in the Seattle area.  The chapter is an active member of the Seattle NPHC and has collaborated with various community organizations in the Seattle area.  Our chapter has partnered with Heroes for the Homeless, Harborview Medical Center, Oregon State University, Treehouse, Metro Seattle Sickle Cell Task Force, and Church by the Side of the Road.  In addition to partnerships, we participate in activities that are a part of the sorority’s national programming which are: Operation BigBookBag, Project Reassurance, National Bone Marrow Donor, Youth Symposium, Program for Africare, WeeSavers, and Mwanamugimu Essay Contest.  We look forward to expanding community partnerships in Seattle as the area continues to grow. 

Our chapter currently mentors young girls ages 12-18 in our Rhoer Club, an affiliate of Sigma Gamma Rho, Inc.  The Rhoer Club provides the girls with an opportunity to learn more about their heritage, develop leadership skills, and volunteer in their community.  The Rhoer Club exhibits their leadership skills in planning their own fundraisers, sleepovers, and Career Day. 

Our chapter’s signature fundraiser is our annual scholarship luncheon in honor of our Founders each November.  The money and donations raised through the luncheon assist the chapter in providing an underrepresented female minority a scholarship after they have completed a semester in college. 

We have many events planned for the upcoming 2010-2011 year.  Delta Psi Sigma looks forward to doing what we do best which is providing service to the Seattle area.  We would not be able to sustain to live our founder’s dream without the support of those who believe in our organization.  We would love for you and your friends to provide support by attending our events.  If you have any questions and comments about our chapter, memberships, or upcoming events, please contact us through our email link.
